All School Play Colby was in

PHS Cast of the 2009 All School Play "Arlene's Beauty World" ~ performed May 12th & 14th.
Chancie was able to come down to see it on the closing evening - so here she is with sister actress, Colby!
The group of older generation ladies who really kept things hopping in the play!
Telling her story, here Abigail tells about a sorted piece of history in her family & tells us that she 'really DOES know how that happened' even though she probably shouldn't mention it!
Telling the undercover detective all about it.
These ladies were always up to something on this couch!
Of course sitting in the beauty chair didn't make things safe either!
Let's switch out your walker for my cane!
She spins in the chair while suspenders guy here laments that his love is 'such a kidder'
Now what kind of trouble are we in with Janice?!?
I'll blow bubbles & you see if you can bat them with the flyswatter!
What do they have on their faces now? You never knew what would come out of that basket!!!
See what I mean???
This poor old woman just wanted to know all night long "Is it my turn yet?"
A Beautician at work?
The play was so very good!!! It was very well written with one pun after another & the kids ALL did such a great job with their characters! The kids were all also involved in so many other things at school that you wonder how they ever got the time to learn all those lines & put together such a fun, good play! Hats off to them all & their great director for 2 fabulous performances!

Branding on the Smith place

Smith generations in ascending order! All working together in the branding corral. Tucker, Kieth, & Rich. We were missing Lincoln, who wasn't home from college yet for all the times at home. He did make it home in time to go with them to Winner for that one though!
Just an overall view of the process - we had a very nice day this day - actually all 3 of the days that we branded at home here!
Had to pass the pretty chickens on the way to the barn too ...
One of the 3 brands we put on the babies - this one is ours
Then we have Tucker's
And then we have Lincoln's

I like the contrast of the very green new grass out there with the barn & the corrals
Another shot of the working process
Another shot of calves gets brought thru the barn & into the corrals as Kieth gets a count
Tucker at work
Rich - at 91 - still gets into the act with helping in the branding work!
We branded 3 times at home & once at Winner this year. So I cooked the big branding meal 3 times in a 10 day period - got that down pretty much to a science! Our last one was on the 6th of May here at home & the 9th in Winner so it feels good to have all of that done! Now the guys are still going to lots of neighbors to help with theirs.
Yep... it's officially springtime on the western plains!!!

Smiths' Mothers Day

OK ~ here's the Mom on her Mothers Day! This will be the only picture you see of her as she is the one always behind the camera! Cassidy grabbed my camera to get me in a shot here!
The day started out with Colby & I going to church - she & Emily sang a beautiful duet in church. They will be singing it at graduation too I believe. You can't understand it as it is in another language - but beautiful just the same! I got to see my Mom at church too!
After church we picked up the 3 guys & went to Rapid - got chalupas at Taco Bell & had our picnic in Canyon Lake Park. It is such a lovely park! Cassidy had spent the night at Chancie's so she met up with us at the park too! (Chancie had to work :( but we did talk!)
Here is our picnic lunch
The clouds rolled over & even gave us a few sprinkles - but that didn't last too long
Later the umbrella served as a sun protector!
The guys played several rousing games of Bocce ball!
I guess we can say they are all 3 'in step' with each other huh?!?!?
The girls tossed around a volleyball
Volleyball is these two daughters favorite sport ya know!
Then we drove thru the Badlands on the way home - thru the buffalo pasture ...
And into the beautiful Badlands! They do so amaze me every time I see them!
Look how brilliant the stripes were!
Tucker said he really likes these 'mound' kind of Badlands - look at all their color!
Then you add some green grass & you've got one of God's masterpieces!
This was off of a lookout point ~ pretty ...
They all got ahead of me here! Cass is down there taking a picture of me taking a picture of them!!!
Where did my little (?) boy go? Oh dear, he's clear out there on a peak!
Kieth & Tucker look the valley over - you can see by Tucker's shirt that the wind was blowing pretty good at this point!
Then when we got home Cassidy cut a couple friends' hair for them! A very full day!
A very fun day! Made me ever more aware of how truly Blessed I am to have the children I have, the husband I have, & be in the family I am in!
I hope your Mothers Days were awesome too!
Love,
Deb

Cassidy & Luke Move in!

We loaded things into the trailer from their home in Sioux Falls in the morning.
Then drove a few hours & pulled up to their new home! Only 2 hours from us now!!!
Ready to start unloading!
A cute little house for a new family to live in!
OK ... here we go ...
The cute little kitchen
Getting the living room furniture moved in
Then a late lunch of pizza was delivered! It will be a really nice house for them! They are still putting things away - that can be a big job when you move!
