Colby sang in the local talent show last weekend - which she has doing since she was 5 years old actually! She has almost lost her voice the past couple weeks from something - but she wanted to give it a shot anyway & she sounded very nice & placed 3rd. She sang Sarah McLaughlin's "Angel"

Tuesday afternoon the 100 year anniversary Wagon Train that is riding the Deadwood Trail from Ft. Pierre to Deadwood rode into Grindstone about 4:45 PM. We were there to watch them come over the hill & ride into the area. They say there are over 300 riders signed up & will ride at some point along the journey - maybe 150 will complete the whole trek.

After they all rode into camp - the local fire department served a roast beef sandwich supper to them & all the locals who came for the festivities

After the supper there was a nice program that got cut far too short because it started to rain & they had to get all the extra people out of there before we all got
mudded in! I'm sure for the people riding on any part of this journey it is a thrill, something that we will never see again. What history they are experiencing! Kieth & Colby (who came to the area from the hay field they were working in all day) actually missed most of the riders coming into camp as they noticed smoke right up the road & went to investigate & ended up fighting fire for some time before they joined the festivities! Colby learned how to fight fire with a wet gunney sack for the 1st time & did a fine job of it too! Many others joined the fight & they stopped the fire from getting to the buildings - thank goodness!
